Keke Palmer has come a long way since her attention-grabbing role in “Akeelah and the Bee” — that sweet little film about a girl’s path to the national spelling bee.
The now-20-year-old actress and singer has been tapped for a recurring role in the second season of the Showtime drama series “Masters of Sex,” starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as the real-life, pioneering researchers of human sexuality.
On the show, Palmer will play Coral, a nanny hired by the Masterses to take care of their baby. Production is slated to begin this month in Los Angeles.
In June, the Harvey native, who was raised in Robbins, will be seen in the horror/thriller “Animal,” directed by Brett Simmons and executive produced by Drew Barrymore.
Recently, Palmer also co-starred in the Lifetime TV film, “A Trip to Bountiful,” starring Cicely Tyson, Blair Underwood and Vanessa Williams. She also is working on her next album, expected to be released later this year.
