Is Hollywood Casino about to become a dream come true for party animals clad in black bras or boots and bikinis?
Casino officials are hoping so. The Joliet casino’s new nightclub Reve, which is French for “dream,” will open on Friday.
Reve is pronounced “rev,” as in rev your engines. And that’s exactly what casino general manager Wayne Smith is hoping area residents will do on Friday and Saturday nights at the club, which will feature themes including “black bra” night.
“You can wear just your black bra or a black bra under your shirt,” said marketing manager Jill Green. “You don’t have to wear a bra at all.
Other themes will include “boots and bikinis” and “carnivale.”
Reve Ultra Lounge will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Smith sees it as the type of place that would attract people who want a cocktail after work in a “chilled-out vibe.”
From 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., the lounge will “kick it up a notch” and convert into a full-throttle nightclub similar to ones found in Chicago and New York, Smith said.
White LED-lighted cubes will feature go-go dancers and a DJ will crank up the volume with high-energy electronic dance music. Psychedelic images will be flashed onto white wall cubes.
Guest are being encouraged to “dress to impress.” That can include jeans, but not gym shoes, hoodies and baseball caps, Green explained.
“We’re trying to keep it nice upscale clothing,” she said. “Put the effort in as if you’re going to go all the way downtown to get clubbed up.”
To cater to late-night partiers, the casino has added breakfast to its Hollywood Stadium sports bar from midnight to 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays when Reve is open.
The black-and-white club interior features booths or “cabanas” along the walls that can be rented for $175 per night. If you opt for bottle service, where bottles of hard liquor cost $125 to $250, you don’t have to pay the rental fee. Tables also can be rented.
The drink menu will play off the “dream” theme with cocktails named Cloud 9 and Wet Dream.
Julie Mosier, the casino’s food and beverage manager, said the drinks will be made with fresh juices, mint and fruit. She’s excited about Reve opening in her hometown.
“I think it’s about time,” she said. “I think Joliet needs it. No one has taken the approach to give it what it deserves.”
Nightclub patrons will pay a $10 cover charge after 10 p.m. The cover is $5 if you have a casino player card or free if you have an executive producer card.
Smith said the casino is trying to offer a local alternative for people who travel into Chicago for the nightclub experience.
“Now they don’t have to do that,” he said. “It’s right in our backyard.”
Reservations for cabanas and tables can be made online at www.hollywoodcasinojoliet.com.
Reve, which can hold up to 305 people, can be rented for special events or weddings. Smith also expects the club to be booked for bachelor and bachelorette parties as well as birthdays, anniversaries, corporate events and product launches.
None of the furniture is bolted down and the dance floor can be removed, which makes the space flexible, Green said.
Smith expects the addition of Reve to make the casino more of a destination site than ever before.
“We’re not just gaming,” he said. “We’re entertainment. We’re food and beverage. We’re a hotel, and we’re a nightclub now.”
The casino’s new motto will be “Play, party and stay,” he added.
“Play in the casino, party all night and stay over at the hotel.”
