Thanks to our mild winter, building projects around Tinley Park are proceeding ahead of schedule.
Trustees T.J. Grady and Tom Staunton Jr. delivered updates on various projects at last week’s meeting of a village board committee.
Construction of a Chase Bank branch at 17151 Harlem Ave., just north of McDonald’s, is two months ahead of schedule and heading for an opening next month, Grady said.
He said a new Irish restaurant, Ariel’s Restaurant, 18421 North Creek Drive, “is moving along quite well.” It’s being built on a vacant site near the Hampton Inn, south of the Wendy’s Restaurant on 183rd Street.
Work on the addition at the Bettenhausen Recreation Center, 8125 W. 171st St., is also moving at a brisk pace, with much of that work being done to the interior, Grady said.
He said other business development includes an Advanced Auto store at 159th Street and 80th Avenue and an expansion of The Avenue Animal Hospital, 6736-40 Oak Park Ave.
“Much to my son’s happiness, it looks like they’re getting pretty close with the new Jet’s Pizza,” Grady said of the chain that will be in a strip mall at 17113 S. 88th Ave.
Staunton said a proposed traffic roundabout at 183rd Street and Oak Park Avenue is in its engineering stages.
He also said planned improvements to the North Street Metra parking lot will be done before July.
