The 2nd Annual Social Media Summit will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 21 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago-Alsip hotel, 5000 W. 127th St., Alsip. Presented by the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau, the summit will include eight breakout sessions and two keynote speakers — Nicole Wagner of Stevens & Tate Inc. and Theresa Overby of Miles Media.
The summit will feature two different tracks — a beginner one and an advanced track.

Breakfast session on multi-generational communication
The South Suburban College Business & Career Institute will present a workshop titled “Communicating with the Four Generations” from 8:30 to 10 a.m. March 26 at the University & College Center, 16333 S. Kilbourn, Oak Forest.
Facilitated by Mary Erlain of Peak Development Strategies, the workshop will focus on the generational diversity in today’s work force, with the objective of encouraging people to move away from a “one-size-fits-all” mentality when communicating with employees, vendors and customers.

Manufacturing symposium in Hickory Hills
The Calumet Area Industrial Commission and the newly-organized Chicago Area Manufacturing Council will sponsor a manufacturing industry symposium from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 13 at Lexington House, 7717 W. 95th St., Hickory Hills.
The manufacturing council is seeking input from the region’s manufacturing community regarding how to best ensure the long-term health of manufacturing in Illinois.
