Chicago Heights shelter hosts program to help stray cats

The South Suburban Humane Society will host a Trap-Neuter-Return program from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 19 at its facility, 1103 W. End Ave., Chicago Heights.

Those interested in learning how to help outdoor cats will be taught how to bait and set traps, transport cats safely to a low-cost clinic, and utilize the tricks of trapping that will make the job easier. Participants will get help with all paperwork.

Registered caretakers will be given donated food.

Traps are available for a two-week loan with a deposit that is fully refundable upon their return. Caretakers attending a workshop receive priority for TNR assistance.
