Here is a look at some crowd pleasers.

Events include tickets going on sale for Miranda Lambert’s concert at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park.

ART

THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO: 111 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, (312) 443-3600: Exhibits include “Of Gods and Glamour: The Mary and Michael Jaharis Galleries of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Art” to Nov. 27, 2015.

Admission is free to Illinois residents from 5-8 p.m. Thursdays.

MORAINE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S ROBERT F. DECAPRIO ART GALLERY: 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills, (708) 974-5500: “Gallery 2013 Juried Community Art Exhibition” will be exhibited to July 31. A reception and awards ceremony will take place from 2-4 p.m. June 1.

PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE’S CHRISTOPHER ART GALLERY: 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, (708) 709-3636: “Sapphire and Crystals” will be exhibited from June 3-July 10 with a reception from 4-7 p.m. June 6. The show features work by 13 artists from the Chicago African-American women’s cooperative Sapphire and Crystals. Exhibiting artists include Felicia Grant Preston, Shahar Caren Weaver, Rhonda Wheatley, Dorian Sylvain, Joyce Owens, Pearlie Taylor, Arlene Turner Crawford, Patricia Stewart, Rose Blouin, Renee Williams Jefferson, Juarez Hawkins, Shirley Sullivan and Shyvette Williams.

SALON ARTISTS GALLERY: 294 Main St., Park Forest, (708) 833-5108 or (708) 703-7806: “The Boys are Back” exhibit, which wraps on May 31, features Gerald Saunders and Robert Carr presenting their paintings and their affordable prints.

COMEDY

RIDDLES COMEDY CLUB: 5055 W. 111th St., Alsip, (708) 422-5055: Matt Drufke will perform on May 31-June 1.

ORLAND PARK’S ORLAND DAYS: 153rd Street Metra station, (708) 514-4215 (Steve Anton): The Orland Park Lions Club will present this event through June 2. There will be a carnival, food, vendors, domestic and premium beers, an updated entertainment venue and a parade. Performers will include Jin & Tonic, HillBilly Rockstarz, Big Dog Mercer, the Hat Guys, New Invaders, Infinity, Carl Anthony, McCarthy Road, Libido Funk Circus and 7th Heaven.

ART FAIR IN FLOSSMOOR: (708) 798-2300. This event will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 1-2.

MUSEUMS

ADLER PLANETARIUM: 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 922-7827: “Cosmic Wonder” recently opened. Other exhibits include “The Universe: A Walk Through Space and Time,” “Our Solar System,” “Collecting Memories: The Webster Story,” “Planet Explorers” for families with ages 3-8, “Telescopes: Through the Looking Glass,” and “Shoot for the Moon.”

THE FIELD MUSEUM: 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 922-9410: Exhibits include “Images of the Afterlife” to June 9, “Living with Wolves” to July 7, “Scenes from the Stone Age: The Cave Paintings of Lascaux” to Sept. 8 and “Creatures of Light: Nature’s Bioluminescence”to Jan. 5.

MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY: 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (773) 684-1414: “Animal Inside Out” recently debuted and will run through Sept. 2. Other exhibits include “Science Storms,” “YOU! The Experience,” “The Great Train Story” and the Baby Chick Hatchery.

There also are daily live science demonstrations like the chemistry show “Bangs, Flashes and Fire.”

SHEDD AQUARIUM: 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 939-2438: “Stingray Touch” recently opened and runs to October. Other exhibits include “Jellies,” which has been extended through 2013, “Waters of the World,” “Caribbean Reef,” “Amazon Rising,” “Wild Reef” and the Polar Play Zone.

Attractions include the Shedd’s aquatic show.

PLAYING LIVE

SPRING DANCE CONCERT: Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago, (773) 445-3838: There is a limit of six tickets per parent per class that their son or daughter is enrolled in, and any tickets purchased beyond this limit will be refunded. Performances include Program A at 3:30 p.m. June 1, Program B at 7 p.m. May 31 and 1 p.m. June 2, and Program C at 1 p.m. June 1 and 3:30 p.m. June 2.

MIRANDA LAMBERT: First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 S. Ridgeland Ave., Tinley Park, (708) 614-1616. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. May 31 for the Locked and Reloaded Tour, which will be at FMBA on Sept. 7. Support acts include Dierks Bentley. Tickets can be purchased at LiveNation.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone at (800) 745-3000 or at the venue box office.

VARIETY

BACINEMA SCREENING OF “WAR WITCH”: Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago, (773) 445-3838: The weekly film series continues with this screening at 7:30 p.m. June 5. Unrated but containing war-related violence and brief nudity, the movie runs for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tickets are $7.50, or $5.50 for center members.
