American Legion Post 1198, 1631 Western Ave., Chicago Heights, will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Thorn Creek Nature Center from 5 to 8 p.m. July 27.
The dinner is cosponsored by the Garden Club of Park Forest, Park Forest Environment Commission, Rotary Club of Park Forest, Friends of Thorn Creek Woods, Park Forest Historical Society and Kiwanis Club of Park Forest.
Tickets are $8 per person. Checks can be made payable to Thorn Creek Nature Center.
Thorn Creek Nature Center stands at the gateway of 985 acres of oak hickory woodland dominated by 150-year-old white and red oak trees. The nature center houses displays of the preserve’s flora and fauna, bird feeder viewing, maps and scale models of the preserve, Eugene E. Schwartz reference library, a children’s science corner and nature programs and events for all ages.
