Here is a look at area auditions.

Casting calls include Park Forest-based Grande Prairie Singers’ auditions for its 2012-13 season.

GRANDE PRAIRIE SINGERS: Auditions for the 2012-13 season will take place Aug. 25. All voices are welcome, but an appointment is mandatory.

Based in Park Forest but drawing singers from around the Southland, the group will perform three main-stage concerts — in December, March and May — led by artistic director Jo Rodenburg. Weekly rehearsals begin Sept. 4 in Homewood.

Audition appointments or information on season tickets: (708) 481-8684.

APOSTLE CHRISTIAN THEATRE: Auditions will take place at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 for the fall production of “Don’t Kick the Turkeys” by Andy and Jennifer Hansen. The show will be directed by Kristy McCulley-Schnepf.

Needed are four men, four women and one child.

“This production is a comedy and is a joy to not only perform, but to see as well,” officials said.

In the show, it is only the Rev. Thompson’s third day as pastor of New Hope Church. His secretary lays down the laws of the office, the janitor is “fixing” everything in sight, the most prestigious member of the congregation is on the warpath and an eccentric layperson presents some far-out ideas for Sunday morning’s special.

The calamity and humor only escalate when a day care moves into the church building after the pipes in the day care’s building burst. Can God work in such a situation?

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and take place at 2250 205th St., Chicago Heights.

Performances will be Nov. 2-3, 9-10 and 16-17, with one Sunday matinee to be announced.
