Salonga concert to benefit Tinley Park-Frankfort Rotary Club

The Tinley Park-Frankfort Rotary Club will host a benefit concert, “Musika SamaSama: The Together Concert 2013,” starring Tony Award winner, Disney legend, singer and actress Lea Salonga at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Center for Performing Arts, Governors State University, 1 University Parkway, University Park.
Chicago’s SamaSama Project, led by Baron Lloyd Cabalona and Louella Maningas Cabalona, will open the one-night only show for Salonga.
A special free preconcert celebration will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in the center’s lobby. It will feature performances by the Aria Vocal Group, The Philippine Dance Troupe of the Quad Cities, Philippine American Cultural Foundation Performing Arts, unDIVAded: Pure Voice Divas and 3JNR Rondalla Group. A culinary spread of traditional Filipino food and exhibits at a vendor booth fair will be available.
“Rotary’s theme of the year is: ‘Engage Rotary, Change Lives,’ ” said Jan Paul C. Ferrer, president of the Tinley Park-Frankfort club. “This concert will be our club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds will be used to award scholarships to eight seniors at Tinley Park, Andrew, Lincoln-Way North and Lincoln-Way East high schools.”
Tickets are $55, $75 and $100. Tickets can be bought online at www.centertickets.net or in person at Kusinang Pinoy, 4Ks Asian Mart and Philippine Cuisine, 16150 Cicero Ave., Oak Forest.
A limited number of VIP-level tickets that include a private reception dinner with Salonga on Oct. 25 are available for $180 per person.
