Craig: ‘Sweeney Todd’ in Chesterton plus other productions

The bloody and murderous musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” by Stephen Sondheim will be staged from March 15-April 6 at Chesterton’s 4th Street Theater.
Set in 19th century England, the musical tells the story of a man who returns to London after a 15-year exile and finds that the world he left behind has been savagely changed.
He then sets out for revenge in a most bloody and unconventional way.
With music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, the 4th Street production is directed by Glenn Hering with vocal direction by David Markley and costumes by Stanlee Hodsden.
The cast includes Ric Heath, Caroline Geldernick, Jacob Barber, Grace Gass, River Perrine, Bob Penney, Dean Perrine, Adrien Brizzolara, Matt McCann and Kevin Doler.
Tim Slatton, Matt Byerly, Rory McMahan, Wayne Wendell, Yolanda Agosto, Maggie Reister, Alicia Ebaugh and Robyn Rutar are in the ensemble.

‘Barefoot in the Park’
The Valparaiso Theatrical Company will present Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” from March 21-30 at the First Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso.
The story focuses on a newlywed couple who experience the reality that married life is not a fairy tale existence.
The comedy premiered on Broadway in 1963 and starred Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley.
“Barefoot in the Park” was made into a film in 1967 with Redford and Jane Fonda in the lead roles.
The production is directed by William Carns, and the cast features Carly Smith, Nick Russ, Steve Zana, Patrick Morley, Pam Goble Tschida and Michael Doc Kuhn.

‘Time Stands Still’
Crown Point Community Theatre has announced the cast for its production of the Donald Margulies play “Time Stands Still.”
Directed by Kate Ryan, the cast includes KeriAnne Valuckis, Hal Kilgore, Marc Ryser and Rachel Livingston.
“Time Stands Still” is the story of a photojournalist who, after surviving a bomb blast in Iraq, starts to reexamine her high-risk career path.
The show will run from March 28-April 12.

The Genesius Guild has announced the cast for its April production of Rogers & Hammerstein’s classic Broadway musical “Carousel.”
Directed by Ed Griffith, the show features musical and vocal direction by Jay Gianotti.
The cast includes Antoinette Gomez, Helena Jancosek, Andrew Buel, Darren Serhal, Andy Leahy, Kay Wagman, Donna Kuhn, Doc Kuhn, Brianna Dittmer, Dale Downs, Gilberto Oria, Larry Hinken, David Long, Casey Terry and Kristie Peterson.
The chorus features Elizabeth Roman, Mary Lou Sygmunt and Debbie Sanders.
The Snow Children will be portrayed by Maryssa Thatcher, Justin Brandenburg, Mia Rettew, Noah Hernandez, Sequoiah Brandenburg, Amanda Hernandez and Luke Brandenburg.
