The independent pro wrestling scene has been buzzing about Resistance Pro’s recently-inked deal with WCIU-TV, and May 11 with Vader will mark the first taping for the promotion’s TV show.

Meanwhile, Vanguard Wrestling All-Star Alliance is preparing for Manifest Destiny V, which is set for May 12 in Markham with Colt Cabana.

R-Pro

A Small Deadly Space will take place at 7:30 p.m. May 11 at Teamster Auditorium, 328 S. Marshfield Ave., Chicago.

Former World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Federation superstar Vader is the special guest.

“Vader is a legendary superstar who hasn’t been to the Chicago area in nearly 15 years,” R-Pro officials said.

“When we talked to the fans at the shows, his name came up consistently as someone the fans would love to see compete in R-Pro. They asked, we delivered.”

Attendees at May 11’s show could end up being part of R-Pro’s TV show.

“The first episode of our TV program will air on June 10th on WCIU’s U Too station. The time will be announced in the next few weeks,” R-Pro officials said.

“This is definitely the next step in the evolution of R-Pro. If you love professional wrestling, you’ll want to be here.

“No hyperbole, no empty promises, just a great show for your hard-earned dollar from top to bottom.”

Front-row seats are sold out. Tickets are $30 for second row with preshow meet and greet, $25 for third row with preshow meet and greet and $20 for general admission.

Teamster union members who present a valid union identification card at the door will receive half-price general admission tickets.

VWAA

Manifest Destiny V will take place at 6:30 p.m. May 12 at the Markham Park District, 16053 Richmond Ave.

“Once again, our fans can be part of another Internet pay-per-view,” VWAA’s Jay J. Valiant said.

“And with the matches we have planned, this is the can’t-miss show in Chicago this year.”

The card will include Deerfield native Colt Cabana, who now lives in Chicago and is well-known on the indy scene.

“Rick Walsh has been running through the competition, so we knew we had to get a challenger that would be equal to the task,” Valiant said of booking the match between Walsh and Cabana.

“Colt was available and had wanted to come to Vanguard, so we felt this was the perfect time to bring him in.”

Tickets are $25 for front row, $15 for floor and $10 for general admission.
