Greetings fellow Oak Lawnians!
Trinity Lutheran Church, 9701 S. Brandt Ave., Oak Lawn, invites the community to come to its second annual ChristKindl Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10. The market features crafters and vendors; fall and Christmas items and gifts; a raffle and a bake sale featuring European homemade items.
After hosting fall and spring craft fairs for 25 years, Trinity wanted to try something different for its fall craft fair.
“We were looking for something new and refreshing,” said Linda Bensen, one of the event organizers. “We came up with the European idea and developed a new lunch menu that’s different and very European.”
A lot of thought and planning went into selecting not only crafters, but European menu items that were in theme with the ChristKindl Market.
“We’ll have 25 tables with jewelry, greeting cards, wood and knit items, Christmas decorations, accessories and baby baskets,’ Bensen said. “We also have a lady who does quilts and throws. She is a beautiful seamstress.”
Bensen said last year’s inaugural holiday market was a big success.
“We expect there will be a couple hundred more people attending this year than in past years,” she said.
Visitors can enjoy shopping for gifts while holiday music plays in the background. The holiday market also will feature an assortment of goodies and treats.
“This year we’re having a European bake sale, and all the items will be homemade by our members,” Bensen said. “We’ll also have prepackaged candy and nuts, and we’ll have bratwurst, potato pancakes and other food items.”
It’s great to have a ChristKindl Market right here in Oak Lawn and not have to travel to downtown Chicago or other communities to enjoy this unique holiday experience.
All proceeds raised benefit the church for various projects that need to be done, as well as repairs and replacements.
Trinity still has a few spaces open for crafters and vendors at the show. Table rental is $25.
