Here is a look at some crowd pleasers.

Events include Country Club Hills Theater kicking off its 2013 concert season.

ART

THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO: 111 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, (312) 443-3600: Exhibits include “Of Gods and Glamour: The Mary and Michael Jaharis Galleries of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Art” to Nov. 27, 2015.

Admission is free to Illinois residents from 5-8 p.m. Thursdays.

MORAINE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S ROBERT F. DECAPRIO ART GALLERY: 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills, (708) 974-5500: “Gallery 2013 Juried Community Art Exhibition” will be exhibited to July 31.

PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE’S CHRISTOPHER ART GALLERY: 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, (708) 709-3636: “Sapphire and Crystals” will be exhibited to July 10. The show features work by 13 artists from the Chicago African-American women’s cooperative Sapphire and Crystals. Exhibiting artists include Felicia Grant Preston, Shahar Caren Weaver, Rhonda Wheatley, Dorian Sylvain, Joyce Owens, Pearlie Taylor, Arlene Turner Crawford, Patricia Stewart, Rose Blouin, Renee Williams Jefferson, Juarez Hawkins, Shirley Sullivan and Shyvette Williams.

SALON ARTISTS GALLERY: 294 Main St., Park Forest, (708) 833-5108 or (708) 703-7806: “Here & Now Retrospective,” which features CouSandra Armstrong’s photography and Dennis Jennings’ paintings, will continue throughout June.

FESTIVALS

FRANKFORT’S CONCERTS ON THE GREEN: Breidert Green, Kansas and Oak streets, (815) 469-3356 (Frankfort Chamber of Commerce): Live music will be provided for no charge. Attendees should bring lawn chairs and blankets. The schedule includes 1969 on June 23. In case of stormy weather, concerts will take place at the Frankfort Park District Founders Center, 140 Oak St.

MAIN STREET NIGHTS: Park Forest Village Green, Cunningham Drive and Main Street, (708) 748-2005: June 26’s installment will feature “The Flying Fool” Ken Schultz at 7 p.m. and Banda Rika at 7:45 p.m. Attendees should call to confirm the weekly schedule.

NEW LENOX’S MOVIE NIGHTS: (815) 462-6400: This series will continue with “Stuart Little” on June 26.

MUSEUMS

ADLER PLANETARIUM: 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 922-7827: “Cosmic Wonder” recently opened. Other exhibits include “The Universe: A Walk Through Space and Time,” “Our Solar System,” “Collecting Memories: The Webster Story,” “Planet Explorers” for families with ages 3-8, “Telescopes: Through the Looking Glass,” and “Shoot for the Moon.”

THE FIELD MUSEUM: 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 922-9410: Exhibits include “Living with Wolves” to July 7, “Scenes from the Stone Age: The Cave Paintings of Lascaux” to Sept. 8 and “Creatures of Light: Nature’s Bioluminescence”to Jan. 5.

MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY: 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (773) 684-1414: “Animal Inside Out” recently debuted and will run through Sept. 2. Other exhibits include “Science Storms,” “YOU! The Experience,” “The Great Train Story” and the Baby Chick Hatchery.

There also are daily live science demonstrations like the chemistry show “Bangs, Flashes and Fire.”

SHEDD AQUARIUM: 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 939-2438: “Stingray Touch” recently opened and runs to October. Other exhibits include “Jellies,” which has been extended through 2013, “Waters of the World,” “Caribbean Reef,” “Amazon Rising,” “Wild Reef” and the Polar Play Zone.

Attractions include the Shedd’s aquatic show.

PLAYING LIVE

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS THEATER: 4100 W. 183rd St. (box office), (708) 798-2616: Rachelle Farrell, Phil Perry and Pieces of a Dream will kick off the venue’s 2013 concert season at 7 p.m. June 21. George Clinton and Cameo are booked for 7 p.m. June 22. Tickets for either show are $20-$80.

ST. XAVIER UNIVERSITY’S SUMMER CONCERT AND FIREWORKS: 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago, (773) 298-3748: This 17th annual free event will take place June 23 on the front steps of the Warde Academic Center. The New Odyssey Band will perform from 7-10 p.m. The concert will conclude with a patriotic finale and fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. (dusk). The community is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the show. Concessions will be available from the Original Rainbow Cone, Gilhooley’s Grande Saloon, Calabria Imports, Happy Jack’s,and the SXU Alumni Association. Attendees also may bring their own refreshments.
