Here is a look at crowd pleasers coming to the Southland. Events include the Frankfort Fine Arts Fair.

The Frankfort Fine Arts Fair will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 23 at the Breidert Green in downtown Frankfort.

This annual event will feature works of art and demonstrations by premier Frankfort-area artists.

Attendees can browse through galleries, shops and restaurants.

There also will be music throughout the day, including harpist Andrea Jawor from 10 a.m.-noon and jazz ensemble Alex Blomarz Quartet from 12:30-3 p.m.

WineStyles of Frankfort will offer beverages from 1-3 p.m.

THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO: 111 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, (312) 443-3600: “Roy Lichtenstein: A Retrospective” will be on display to Sept. 3. *** Admission is free to Illinois residents on the first and second Wednesdays of the month.

MORAINE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S ROBERT F. DECAPRIO ART GALLERY: 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills, (708) 608-4231: “Gallery 2012 Juried Community Art Exhibition” will be on exhibit to Aug. 2. Cortney Lederer is the juror for the show.

PRAIRIE STATE COLLEGE’S CHRISTOPHER ART GALLERY: 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, (708) 709-3636: The summer show will be on display to July 26. “Location Impulsion” features the works of Nina Weiss, Michael X. Ryan and Bonnie Peterson.

COMEDY

RIDDLES COMEDY CLUB: 5055 W. 111th St., Alsip, (708) 422-5055: “Bad Boy of Comedy” Alex Ortiz, who has been featured on Comedy Central, will perform two shows each on June 22-23.

THE VIC & PAUL SHOW: Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. (111th Street south on Western Avenue), Chicago, (773) 445-3838, beverlyartcenter.org: This sketch comedy revue with Victoria Zielinski and Paul Barrosse will take the stage at 8 p.m. June 22, 4 and 8 p.m. June 23 and 3 p.m. June 24. Tickets are $22. Zielinski and Barrosse, founding members of Chicago’s Practical Theatre Company in the 1980s, have returned to the Chicago stage after a 20-year intermission. Music and keyboard accompaniment will be by Steve Rashid.

FESTIVALS

HOMER COMMUNITY FESTIVAL: 151st Street and Creme Road, Homer Glen, (708) 301-0632, homerfest.com: Through June 24, this large outdoor festival will feature carnival rides, a beer tent, live bands and fireworks. Hours include 5 p.m.-midnight June 22 with Full Circle Band at 5:30 p.m., Infinity at 8:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. (rain date is June 23). Hours will be noon-midnight on June 23 with Joey Midnight and the Flesh Tones at 3 p.m., 80’s Enough at 6 p.m. and Slippery When Wet at 9:30 p.m. The festival will wrap from noon-8 p.m. June 24 with the Walk-Ins at 1:30 p.m. and Rendition at 4:30 p.m. Parking is free.

MUSEUMS

CHICAGO CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: Navy Pier, 700 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, (312) 527-1000: “Circus Zirkus: Where You’re the Star of the Show!” runs to Aug. 12. *** “Michael’s Museum: A Curious Collection of Tiny Treasures” fosters the art of collecting and features nearly 100 collections of tiny objects including miniatures, trinkets, artifacts and curiosities donated by founder and curator Michael Horvich.

THE FIELD MUSEUM: 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 922-9410: “Genghis Khan” is on display through Sept. 3.

MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY: 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (773) 684-1414: “MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibit,” which features an interactive experience culled from the Discovery Channel TV show “MythBusters,” is on display through Sept. 3.

SHEDD AQUARIUM: 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, (312) 939-2438: Exhibits include “Jellies,” which was recently extended through 2013.

THEATER

“MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET”: Apollo Theater, 2540 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, (773) 935-6100: Recently extended through Sept. 2, the show is inspired by the auspicious twist of fate that brought together musicians Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley at the Sun Records’ storefront studio in Memphis, Tenn. The show runs Wednesdays-Sundays.

“PINKALICIOUS — THE MUSICAL”: Broadway Playhouse, 175 E. Chestnut Ave., Chicago, (800) 775-2000: Recently extended through Aug. 5, this production of the hit musical is based on the popular book by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann. The Emerald City Theatre show is best for ages 3 and older.

“ROCK OF AGES”: Broadway Playhouse, 175 E. Chestnut Ave., Chicago, (800) 775-2000: Running to Aug. 5, this worldwide party musical features a mix of 28 rockin’ 1980s tunes including “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “We Built This City,” “The Final Countdown,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “Here I Go Again,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.” In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in Los Angeles’ most-famous rock club, and they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ’80s. The five-time 2009 Tony nominee show is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing and face-melting hits of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and many more. “Don’t miss this awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on,” officials said.

BACINEMA SCREENING OF “I WISH”: Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago, (773) 445-3838: The weekly film series continues with this film at 7:30 p.m. June 27. Rated PG, the Japanese movie runs for 1 hour and 8 minutes. Tickets are $7.50, or $5.50 for center members.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL’S “DRALION”: Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont, and United Center, 1901 W. Madison St., Chicago, (800) 745-3000 (tickets): This tour will be at the Allstate Arena to June 24 and at the United Center from June 27-July 1. Information: cirquedusoleil.com.

“CIRQUE SHANGHAI’S YEAR OF THE DRAGON”: Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, (800) 745-3000 (tickets): This show will run to Sept. 3. “After a successful run on Broadway, Cirque Shanghai returns to Chicago’s Navy Pier this summer with a magnificent new show, ‘Year of the Dragon,’ ” officials said. “ ‘Year of the Dragon’ is a spectacle for audiences of all ages, featuring performers direct from China who are leaders in their craft of tumbling, juggling, balancing and more. China’s finest daredevil motorcycle troupe, Imperial Thunder, returns with not two, not four but five motorcyclists riding at breakneck speed within a steel globe, more than ever before in this death-defying feat.”

FORE ART GOLF OUTING: Ridge Country Club, 10522 S. California Ave., Chicago, (773) 238-9400: Officials said this event on June 25 will be a fun and exciting way to support the Beverly Arts Center. The annual golf outing will include hole contests, a putting contest and a raffle. Golfers and guests can enjoy an evening of cocktails, dinner and entertainment. “XTREME BUGS”: Brookfield Zoo, 31st Street and First Avenue, Brookfield, (708) 688-8000. Featuring large animatronic bugs, this exhibit will run to Sept. 7. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for ages 3-11 in addition to general admission of $15 for adults and $10.50 for children. Parking is $10.
