Here is a look at top events you won’t want to miss. Suggestions include the Flossmoor Area Chapter of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s 2012-13 season preview.

Lyric Opera

The Flossmoor Area Chapter of the Lyric Opera of Chicago will present a preview of the 2012-13 Lyric Opera season on Sept. 11 at Balagio’s Restaurant, 17501 Dixie Highway, Homewood.

A cash bar will take place at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:15 p.m.

The program by a member of the award-winning Lyric Opera Education Corps will take place after dinner.

Weekend

Sept. 7’s Weekend magazine features Cindy Pearlman’s preview of the fall movie season.

There is also a movie review of the horror thriller “The Possession.”
