The Oak Lawn Community High School Drama Program will perform the musical “Grease” at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, 26 and 27 in the auditorium gym at the school, 9400 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn.
The musical, set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School, follows 10 teenagers as they go through the highs and lows of high school life, including love, cars and the drive-in.
School officials said the stage musical differs somewhat from the iconic 1978 movie version in that it centers more on the relationships of the main character groups.
“‘Grease’ is such a mainstay of the high school musical world because of its appeal to people of all ages; its archetypal high school characters; and of course the legendary music,” theatre director Bill Denton said. “I look forward to seeing how our students make this show their own while maintaining the original flavor that everyone has come to know and love.”
Tickets are $8 and are available through cast and crew members or by calling the ticket hot line number at (708) 424-5200, Ext. 5920.
