LWSRA to host special needs seminar

The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association will host a free seminar titled “Financial Planning for the Future” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Frankfort Founders Center, 140 Oak St.

The seminar will feature Greg Zibricky, president of Provider Group Wealth Advisors, and attorney Amy Delaney of Delaney, Delaney and Voorn, Ltd. Topics will include estate planning and the difference between guardianship versus power of attorney for children with special needs.

Parent University event Nov. 3

Lincoln-Way Special Education District 843’s Parent Advisory Council and P.L.A.S.E. will sponsor the third annual Parent University from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Nov. 3 at Pioneer Grove School and Administrative Center, 601 Willow St., Frankfort.

The free event will include sessions on sibling support, understanding and addressing problem behaviors at home; website recourses for parents and more. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Theater group to perform ‘Title of Show’

The Southland Area Theatre Ensemble will perform the musical “Title of Show” at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University, 1 University Parkway, University Park.

The musical is about two nobodies who write a musical starring themselves and their lady friends. Tickets are $27 for general admission and $25 for students and seniors.

Library to show ‘The Lorax’

Green Hills Public Library, 8611 W. 103rd St., Palos Hills will show the 2012 animated movie “The Lorax” featuring the voices of Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito at 4 p.m. Nov. 2.

In the movie, a 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Popcorn and lemonade will be served. Registration is required.
