Martin graduates basic training

Air Force Airman Marvin Martin graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Martin is the son of Annissa Henderson, of Orland Park. He is a 2009 graduate of Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields.

Vinson completes military training

Air Force Airman Porsha P. Vinson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Vinson is the granddaughter of Pamela Vinson, of Blue Island. She is a 2007 graduate of Eisenhower High School.

Brzoska graduates infantry training

Army National Guard Pvt. Joseph D. Brzoska has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Brzoska is the son of Tara and Thaddeus Brzoska, of Sauk Village. He is a 2011 graduate of Bloom Trail High School in Chicago Heights.

Thielmann headed to West Point

Lincoln-Way North High School senior Kevin Thielmann has earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Thielmann said he originally had planned to enter the Army like his grandfather, uncle and several cousins, but decided to set his sights on West Point after receiving a pamphlet about the Military Academy in the mail.

Thielmann is scheduled to report to West Point on July 2.
