Perez arrives for duty
Army Sgt. Edgar Perez has arrived for duty at the Chicago Army Recruiting Battalion.
Perez is an Army recruiter assigned to the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Melrose Park, Ill. He has served in the military for 14 years.
Perez is the son of Marie U. Perez, of Chicago. He graduated in 1995 from Farragut Career Academy in Chicago.
Alhmedi deploys to Afghanistan
Marine Corps Cpl. Abbas W. Alhmedi has deployed to Afghanistan to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners.
Alhmedi is an artillery section chief assigned to the 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He has served in the military for three years.
Alhmedi is the son of Wail Alhmedi, of Chicago. He is a 2005 graduate of Reavis High School in Burbank.
Villasenor graduates from military academy
Midshipman 1st Class Robert Michael Villasenor, of Chicago’s Morgan Park community, has graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He majored in oceanography, and his service selection was surface warfare.
Villasenor is commissioned as an ensign and will serve five years of active duty. His first assignment is to the U.S.S. Bunker Hill, a guided missile cruiser home-ported in San Diego, Calf.
Villasenor is the son of Joe and Jo Ann Villasenor. He is a 2007 graduate of Marist High School in Chicago.
