Senior Health Fair: A free health fair for seniors from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 15 will be hosted by the Lemont Park District’s Core Fitness Center, 16028 127th St. There will be free heath screenings to assess hearing, grip strength and balance, and to check blood pressure. Information will be available on a variety of topics including transportation and assisted living options, home and fire safety, and financial security, including how to save money on utilities. Blood Pressure Screenings: Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, is hosting free blood pressure screenings 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 16, 17 and 22. No appointment is necessary. Information: (708) 403-4222.

Medication Take-Back Program: Residents will have the opportunity to dispose of expired or unwanted medications 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at Bloom Township Senior Services, 425 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. Use a permanent marker to black out your name or personal information on the prescription label. Information: (312) 603-8200.

Wellness Wednesday: Orland Township is hosting Wellness Wednesday 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 22 in the Orland Township Activity Center, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. Residents can have their blood pressure and blood sugar checked by a registered medical professional. A basic cholesterol screening is offered for $5 and the test requires a 9 to 12 hour fast. Free hearing screenings are also available on this day with an appointment. Appointments: (708) 403-4222. Caring Kids Class: Children ages 3 to 12 who are expecting a new sibling will learn what happens when mom goes to the hospital and how they can help when the new baby comes home. Snacks will be provided. Children should bring a doll or a stuffed animal to practice diapering. The next Caring Kids class will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at Advocate Christ Medical Center, 4440 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. The cost is $15 per child or $20 per family. Diabetes Support Group: The Silver Cross Diabetes Center offers a support group for people coping with diabetes at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Silver Cross Diabetes Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Registration: (815) 300-7781.

Chronic Back Pain: An orthopedic surgeon will discuss chronic back pain, specifically degenerative spine conditions, including stenosis and scoliosis from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Advocate Christ Outpatient Center, 12350 S. Harlem Ave., Palos Heights. Information: (800) 323-8622, code 1G47.

Complimentary Massage: The Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health, 1900 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox, is offering a complimentary 30-minute massage or facial to patients who schedule a digital mammogram screening by Sept. 27. Appointments: (815) 300-7076.
