Fall Flower Fundraiser: The Flower Sale Committee of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4247 W. 183rd St., Country Club Hills, is selling mums, cabbage and kale as a fall fundraiser. The plants will be in 8-inch pots, $8 each or 3 for $21. Orders must be placed and paid prior to Sept. 1 at the school office. Mum color choices are yellow/gold, white, red, purple or orange. Free Meals: Up to 100 free meals will be served on a first-come, first-served basis at the Menard Center, 90th and Menard, Oak Lawn, at 6 p.m. Aug. 26. “One Community: One Meal Prepared Together, Shared Together” is a joint venture of several Oak Lawn churches and members of The Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview. An interfaith team of Christians and Muslims has worked together for nine months to plan, prepare and serve the meal. A similar meal will be served Sept. 23.

Genealogy: The Illiana Jewish Genealogical Society meets at 2 p.m. Aug. 26 at Congregation Am Echad, 160 Westwood Drive, Park Forest, for a program by founding member Roslyn Greenberg on “What is in a Name?,” exploring why Jewish names changed frequently. Golf Outing: Our Lady of Loretto Men’s Club will host its third annual Joe Bartkowiak Memorial Golf Outing at noon Aug. 26 at the Meadows Golf Course, 2802 W. 123rd St., Blue Island. The fee is $75 per person which includes golf and dinner. The cost for golf only is $60. Dinner only is $20 at 5 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto parish hall. Proceeds go to the Joe Bartkowiak Memorial Scholarship at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign School of Music and to Our Lady of Loretto Parish. Loss Group: The Catholic Charities Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide Program (LOSS) meets 7 to 9 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7000 W. 111th St., Worth.
