CHICAGO
Local author to host reading
Author Jill Robi, of Chicago’s Beverly community, will host a reading and signing of her first book “Fangirl” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Walker Public Library, 11071 S. Hoyne Ave., Chicago.
Robi has a bachelor of arts degree in literary arts from Columbia Chicago.

Mount Carmel to host Caravan Family Day
Mount Carmel High School will host its Caravan Family Day on Saturday at the school, 6410 S. Dante Ave., Chicago.
The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the sophomore football game, followed by the varsity soccer game at 11 a.m. and the varsity football game at 1 p.m. Mass will be held at 3:30 p.m., followed by food, music and entertainment at 4:30 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring one nonperishable food item for the Take Action to End Hunger drive. Donations will be given to the Maple/Morgan Park Food Pantry.

PALOS HILLS
Township to offer outreach program
Palos Township will host an outreach program on appealing a property’s assessed valuation on Thursday at 10802 S. Roberts Road, Palos Hills.
The doors will open at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 6:30 p.m. Representatives from the Cook County Board of Review Office will be on-hand to answer questions and assist Palos Township homeowners with filing appeal applications.
