Oktoberfest: St. John the Evangelist Parish will host its sixth annual Oktoberfest noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 at Indianapolis Boulevard and 93rd Street, St. John, Ind. Admission is free. There will be German food, German bier on draft and the “Rudesheimer Kaffee Haus” pastry shop. German oomph-pa-pa band performs 2 to 4 p.m. Chriskindlmarket will feature German Christmas ornaments, including the traditional Die Weihnachtsgurke or “the pickle;” nativity sets; German candle pyramids and Bier steins. Feeding Children: Trinity Evangelical Christian Church, 26900 S. Will Center Road, Monee, will be the volunteer site at 10 a.m. Oct. 6 for packaging food for Feeding Children Worldwide, a not-for-profit organization. Breads of the World: First Presbyterian Church of Homewood, 17929 Gottschalk Ave., will observe Breads of the World with breads representing as many as 30 countries presented during the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7 for World Communion Sunday. Comedy: The Living World Lutheran Church of Orland Park will present an improvisational comedy troupe, Improv Unlimited, with their show “Satire Night Live!” at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Performing Arts Center at Sandburg High School, 13300 LaGrange Road, Orland Park.
