Heart House to host Sleep Out 2012
Heart House, a homeless shelter for Chicago-area women and children, will host its Sleep Out 2012 event from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday at Players Club Golf Course, 8500 W. 79th St., Justice.
The event will feature a DJ, children’s activities and dinner from 6 to 11 p.m., followed by a camp-out on the golf course from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. The camp-out will feature movies, table games and a midnight pizza party.
Tickets are $10, and proceeds benefit Heart House.

Steel retirees to meet
The Republic Steel Retirees will meet on Thursday at Steve’s Lounge, 13200 S. Baltimore Ave., Chicago.
The meeting will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for members and $18 for guests.

Park district to host women’s self-defense class
The Oak Forest Park District, 15601 S. Central Ave., will host a Women’s Self Defense Workshop from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Participants will learn strategies and techniques to protect themselves and their children from common attacks. The cost is $35 for residents and $40 for others.

Library to host computer class
Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library, 12838 S. Cicero Ave., will host a Beginning Internet adult computer class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
Registration must be done in-person at the reference desk with a valid Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library card or ID. There will be a $10 nonrefundable registration fee for residents and a $25 fee for nonresidents.
