Here is a look at what Southlanders are accomplishing in the military including news from Chicago, Country Club Hills, Hazel Crest, Calumet City, Dolton, Orland Park, Chicago Heights and Lockport.
Akinniranye graduates combat training
Army Spec. Olubunmi F. Akinniranye graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Akinniranye is the niece of Eugene Mambo, of Chicago.
Gullett graduates basic training
Army Pfc. Robert M. Gullett graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.
Gullett is the son of Robert Gullett, of Lockport. He is a 2009 graduate of Lockport Township High School.
Paquette completes basic training
Army National Guard Pvt. James D. Paquette graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
Paquette is a 2006 graduate of Bloom Trail High School in Chicago Heights.
Grotemeyer graduates combat training
Army Pfc. Richard R. Grotemeyer graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
Grotemeyer is the son of Kathleen Grotemeyer, of Orland Park. He is a 2002 graduate of Sandburg High School.
Enabulele completes Army training
Army Pfc. David P. Enabulele graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
Enabulele is the son of David Enabulele, of Riverdale; and the cousin of Deshaun Hanson, of Calumet City. He is a 2010 graduate of Thornridge High School in Dolton. He earned an associate degree in 2011 from Universal Technical Institute in Glendale Heights.
Berry completes military training
Air Force Airman 1st Class Jeffrey C. Berry graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Berry is the grandson of Ida Marlowe, of Hazel Crest; and Hattie Berry, of Chicago. He is a 2010 graduate of Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills.
