Bettenhausen dealerships collecting donations for Hurricane Sandy victims

Many have lost their homes and much of their materials goods.
But you can help the victims of Hurricane Sandy keep their hope by donating some much-needed items.
Three local Bettenhausen dealerships are collecting goods to be shipped to storm victims out East.
Just like the company did for victims of Hurricane Katrina and survivors of a devastating tornado in Joplin, Mo., Bettenhausen is once again collecting bottled water, canned food and other supplies for people in New York and New Jersey.
“We have always had a passion for giving back to the community,” said Alec Bettenhausen, director of e-commerce for the company. “We need to act as one country. We need to help each other out.”
Bettenhausen said the dealerships have already collected enough items to fill several new cars on the dealership’s three lots. On Saturday, all of the items collected will be trucked to New Age Transportation in Lake Zurich. That company is a hub for Midwest collections. It will deliver and distribute items to ravaged areas of New York and New Jersey.
Items requested are: Personal hygiene products, bottled water, non-perishable food, diapers, baby wipes, baby food, new winter clothes, new blankets, new shoes, backpacks, flashlights, batteries, cleaning supplies, garbage bags and rubber gloves.
