SOUTHLAND

Heartland to host blood drives

Heartland Blood Centers will host two blood donation drives on Saturday.

Drives will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lemont Calvary Church, 1375 State St.; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1900 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox.

Donors must be age 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. A photo ID is required.

OLYMPIA FIELDS

Park districts to host ‘Winter Wonders’

The Homewood-Flossmoor and the Olympia Fields park districts will host “Family Winter Wonders” from 10:30 am. to noon Saturday at Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center, 20000 Western Ave., Olympia Fields.

Families will learn about wildlife in the winter and gather around a campfire with hot chocolate. The cost is $4 for residents and $6 for nonresidents.

PALOS HILLS

Library to screen ‘Brave’

Green Hills Public Library, 8611 W. 103rd St., Palos Hills, will show the 2012 animated movie “Brave” featuring the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson at 4 p.m. Friday.

In the movie, a princess defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. After being granted one wish, she must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.

Free popcorn and lemonade will be served.
