L-Way Central to host fish fry
The Lincoln-Way Central High School Music Boosters will host a fish fry event from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the AP room at the school, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox.
Dinner will include cod, tilapia, shrimp, hush puppies, coleslaw, beverages, desserts and grilled cheese for those who don’t like fish. Kid’s meals also will be available.
Tickets are $10 to $13 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are available at the door.
The event also will feature music by the school’s musical ensembles.

St. Walter to host chess tournament
St. Walter Elementary School, 11741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, will host a chess tournament for children in kindergarten through eighth grade on Saturday. Check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the tournament will be completed by 2:30 p.m.
Children will each play five rounds, and the top 10 scorers in each division will receive trophies and medals. Chess sets and a pizza lunch will be provided.
The cost is $40.

MERRIONETTE PARK
League to host Mardi Gras event
The Animal Welfare League will host “Mardi Cause 4 Paws” for all ages from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 115 Bourbon St., 3359 W. 111th St., Merrionette Park.
Adult admission is $35 in advance and $45 at the door. Admission for children ages 6 to 12 is $20 in advance and $30 at the door and free for children age 5 and younger. Tickets include admission, food, all beverages and entertainment.
