TINLEY PARK
District 230 to host Parent University
Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St., Tinley Park, will host Parent University at 7 p.m. March 13.
The focus will be on helping students make healthy choices. Breakout session topics include prom, character development, social networking, substance abuse, adjusting to college life and support of special needs students.
Admission is free.
School officials are asking parents of students who plan to attend prom to go to the prom session. This meeting answers frequently asked questions regarding prom and allows parents an opportunity to work together in order to make prom a fun and safe event, officials said.
There will be a raffle for a chance to win graduation tickets, parking vouchers and prom tickets.

Village looking for Earth Day displays
The Homer Glen Environment Committee is looking for volunteers, exhibitors, demonstrators and sponsors for the village’s fifth annual Earth Day celebration 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 at Konow Farm near 167th Street and Cedar Road.
The committee is seeking people and organizations who utilize natural or recycled materials in a unique way. Products will be offered for sale in an expanded arts and crafts show.
Exhibitors who are involved in connecting children with nature and the outdoors are especially being sought, according to officials.
The committee plans to include new ideas in keeping with the purpose of the day that illustrates ways to provide green solutions, efficient use of energy and cost savings for businesses and homeowners, officials said.
There will be pony rides, hay rides, antique and environmentally friendly vehicles, crafts, demonstrations and exhibits.
Admission will be free.

Kindergarten sign-up starts
Starting March 1, North Palos District 117 will conduct registration for the 2013-14 pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs.
Parents of pre-kindergarten students can pick up information packets at Sorrick School, 7825 W. 103rd St., Palos Hills, and Dorn School, 7840 W. 92nd St., Hickory Hills.
