Israel Independence Day: A Community Shabbat at 7:30 p.m. April 12 at Temple Anshe Sholom, 20820 S. Western Ave., Olympia Fields, will mark Israel Independence Day. A dinner will be at 6 p.m. Information: (708) 748-6010.

Alumni Memorial Mass: St. Laurence High School and the Office of Alumni Relations will host its annual Mass honoring deceased alumni of the school, at 4:30 p.m. April 13 in the school’s library, 5556 W. 77th St, Burbank. The Rev. Norm Trela, from St. Symphorosa Parish, and the school’s chaplain, will celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection. Who’s Got Faith: St. Xavier University will host its 2013 Interfaith Expo 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 15 in the Butler Reception Room, located in the Warde Academic Center, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago. The event, titled “Who’s Got Faith in Faith Anymore?” is free of charge. Kifah Mustafa, Imam at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview; Rabbi Ellen Dreyfus of B’nai Yehuda Beth Sholom in Homewood; and Graziano Marcheschi, executive director for University Ministry at SXU will participate in the program. Keynote speaker, the Rev. James R. Kok, pastor at Care Ministries from the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif., will present “What Are We Here For? Family First.” Lectures will cover a range of topics including how to care for aging parents, supporting endangered children, how to work toward financial freedom and sharing personal resources. Hunger Walk: The South Suburban Crop Hunger Walk will be April 28 starting at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 18850 Riegel Road, Homewood, with rest stops at Salem Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Paul Community Church and Millennium Park, all in Homewood. A quarter of the funds raised go to local hunger-fighting agencies including Respond Now, Jones Community Center, Rich Township Food Pantry and South Suburban PADS and the rest goes to Church World Service, a world relief agency.
