FALL RUMMAGE SALE: The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, 10000 Central Ave., Oak Lawn, hosts the annual fall rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Information: (708) 423-1170.
WOW MEETING: The Southwest Suburban Widow or Widowers’ group meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 17100 W. 70th Ave., Tinley Park, for a short monthly meeting, entertainment and refreshments. All denominations are welcome. Information: (630) 728-9368.

OKTOBERFEST: Food with sides, beverages, desserts, carnival games, raffle tables, baked goods and crafts will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Christ Memorial United Church, 2440 York St., Blue Island. BREADS OF THE WORLD: First Presbyterian Church of Homewood, 17929 Gottschalk Ave., observes Breads of the World on Sunday. Yeast breads, quick breads and flat breads representing as many as 30 countries will be presented during the worship service at 10:30 a.m. for World Communion Sunday. HEALING SERVICE: Infant Jesus of Prague Church, Flossmoor Road and Leavitt Avenue, Flossmoor, conducts a Mass and healing service at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of every month at the wheelchair-accessible church.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Catholic Charities seeks volunteers age 55 and older to provide assistance for local activities. Volunteers can deliver meals to a homebound senior, mentor a child, visit lonely seniors in nursing homes or help coordinate craft projects at a senior center. Catholic Charities will match a volunteer’s interests with available opportunities. Catholic Charities will provide supplementary insurance, mileage and meal reimbursement during volunteer service. A SALUTE TO OUR ARMED FORCES: The St. Damian Women’s Club presents A Salute to Our Armed Forces dinner and show, featuring the Legacy Girls, on Oct. 12 at St. Damian Parish’s Grimmel Center, 5250 W. 155th Place, Oak Forest.
