Blood Pressure Screenings: Bloom Township and Complete Home Health Services offer free blood pressure screenings from 10 to 11 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Bloom Township Senior Department, 425 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. Information: (708) 754-9400.

Bariatric Support Group: Silver Cross Hospital, in partnership with BMI Surgery, hosts this free group for individuals who have undergone weight-loss surgery. The meeting is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Registration: (888) 660-4325 or www.silvercross.org.

Breast Prosthesis Display: Women who have undergone a mastectomy have the opportunity to evaluate prosthesis options through this display from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Advocate Christ Center for Breast Care, 4545 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. Grief Support for Men: Ingalls Health System offers the monthly free grief support group Straight Talk for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other. Men deal with grief differently from women. The free support group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month in the North Building of Ingalls Memorial Hospital, 1 Ingalls Drive, Harvey. Registration is required. Stroke Support: A free group for stroke survivors, their family and friends meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month in the Conference Center of Advocate Christ Medical Center, 4440 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. No registration is required. Information: (800) 323-8622, Code 1X08.

Bereavement Support Group: VITAS Innovative Hospice Care offers bereavement support groups to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. All groups are free and offer day and evening sessions. A monthly ongoing bereavement support group, Coping With Loss, is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and 6:30 to 8 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the VITAS office, 8525 W. 183rd St., Suite M, Tinley Park. Breast Cancer Support: A free group for women who have a history of breast cancer and their families meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Advocate Christ Center for Breast Care, 4545 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. Total Lipid Profile Testing: Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, hosts this testing from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday. A nine- to 12-hour fast is required. However, participants should drink water prior to the lipid test. The test price is $25 for residents or $30 for nonresidents. Free blood pressure and glucose testing for an additional $5 are also available on this day. An appointment is necessary. Participants must bring proof of residency on testing day. Sight Impaired Support: People who are coping with visual impairment can turn to Orland Area Sight Impaired Support, which provides support and independent living workshops. OASIS meets at 12:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month at Orland Park Church, 7500 W. Sycamore Drive. Information: (708) 460-6573.

Grief Support Group: Ingalls Bereavement Services sponsors this free group at 2 p.m. Mondays at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, 1 Ingalls Drive, Harvey. The group provides a safe place for participants who have experienced the loss of a loved one to grieve with others who have had similar experiences, share feelings and start the healing process. Spinal Cord Injury: A free support group for individuals with spinal cord injuries and their families and friends meets with other individuals for networking, problem solving and information from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month at Advocate Christ Medical Center, 4440 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. Bipolar Disease Support Group: Silver Cross Hospital hosts this free group for individuals and family members coping with bipolar disease from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Registration: (888) 660-4325 or www.silvercross.org.

Borrowing Medical Equipment: Orland Township Health Services offers a medical equipment loan program to all Orland Township residents as well as unincorporated Orland Township and Tinley Park residents. The Nurses’ Closet allows residents in need to borrow medical equipment including wheelchairs, crutches, canes, walkers, shower equipment and other items for a 60-day period. CPR And First Aid Classes: Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills, offers cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid classes for individuals, employees of small businesses and health professionals during the fall semester. Breast-feeding Support Group: The Silver Cross Birthing Center’s certified lactation consultants host this free group from 10:30 a.m. to noon for English-speaking mothers and 12:30 to 2 p.m. for Spanish-speaking mothers on Dec. 27 in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Weight Management Program: This Ingalls 12-week healthy lifestyles program is for adults who want to lose weight, improve their overall health and increase physical activity. Weekly group classes are led by a registered dietitian. A free introductory session will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. or 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 2 at the Ingalls Wellness Center, 19550 Governors Highway, Flossmoor. Classes begin Jan. 9 and run on consecutive Thursdays for 12 weeks. Fee is $225. Information: (708) 915-8850.

Alzheimer’s And Dementia Support Group: Hallelujah Temple, 1 Dogwood St., Park Forest, hosts this meeting at 6 p.m. the first Friday of each month. Immunization Clinic: Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, hosts its monthly immunization clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 4. Immunizations are offered to Orland Township residents only. Some eligibility requirements may apply. Information: orlandtwp.org.

Postpartum Support: Resources that will allow new mothers to become more knowledgeable about postpartum depression, its causes and available treatment options are available at this free support group. In addition, mothers also will have the opportunity to talk, listen and share their experiences with other women experiencing similar feelings. Grief Support Group: The Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization conducts a grief support group for parents and family of anyone who has died as a result of a drug overdose. Caregivers Support: The Ingalls Center for Outpatient Rehabilitation hosts a monthly caregivers support group to help caregivers connect with others, share ideas, problem solve and receive support to get through the rough times. Crohn’s And Colitis Support: The Illinois Carol Fisher Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America offers a support group for people with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Better Breathers Support Group: Field experts offer topics relating to lung disease and lung health at the Ingalls Better Breathers Club. The free support group is intended for both patients and their families. Better Breathers meets the second Tuesday of the month at the Ingalls Family Care Center, 19550 Governors Highway, Flossmoor. Free Podiatry Screenings: A local podiatrist conducts free examinations for all participating residents from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 15 at Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. Appointments: (708) 403-4222.
