Here is a look at what Southlanders in the SouthtownStar’s Central region are accomplishing in college.

News includes Tinley Park, Orland Park, Oak Forest, Midlothian, Frankfort, New Lenox, Mokena, Manhattan, Crestwood, Homer Glen and Lockport.

Georgia Institute of Technology

■ Kyle Bogdal, of Tinley Park, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

■ Julianne Marie Camacho, of Orland Park, earned the distinction of faculty honors for spring at Georgia Institute of Technology.

St. Norbert College

Christopher Amann, of Oak Forest, and Raymond Kay and Brianna Simkowski, both of Orland Park, received a bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis.

Midwestern University

Cynthia Daggy, of Midlothian, received a doctorate degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill.

The daughter of Robert and Carol Daggy, of Midlothian, is a 2007 graduate of Bremen High School in Midlothian.

Hope College

Andrew Cook, of Frankfort, and Paige McGuire, of New Lenox, graduated summa cum laude from Hope College in Holland, Mich.

Eastern Illinois University

Andrew N. Mohebbi, of Mokena, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Hannah Janae Woods, of Frankfort, received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Bradley University

Katie Scaramella, of Tinley Park, finished her sophomore year at Bradley University in Peoria ranked No. 1 in her class of 1,062 students.

The graduate of Andrew High School in Tinley Park has maintained a perfect grade point average while majoring in elementary education.

Lake Forest College

Tara Viehweg, of Frankfort, and Ryan Drake, of Manhattan, were named to the dean’s list at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill.

Drake is a graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox.

Viehweg is a graduate of Lincoln-Way North High School in Frankfort.

Benedictine University

■ Crystal Howlett, of New Lenox; James Patrick Hickey, of Orland Park; and Paula Pyznarski, of Tinley Park; each received a master’s degree from Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill.

■ Several area students received a bachelor’s degree from Benedictine University. They include:

Crestwood — Kara Elizabeth Zuro.

Frankfort — Richard Charles Helmin.

Homer Glen — Jacqueline Denise Almazan, Joseph Vincent Clarizio, Jay Dave, Mary Helen Ryan and Karen Vobroucek.

Lockport — James Henry Dawson.

Mokena — Alyssa Rose Claxton, Donna Marie McKenna, Amith Mulkanoor and Philip A. Palmisano.

New Lenox — Timothy Richard Gindville and Alyssa Marie Rubino.

Oak Forest — Arham Afreen Alam, Caitlin M. Clough, Stephan R. Pikul, Erik Michael Rickert, Danielle M. Savant and Tracey A. Walsh.

Orland Park — Jacob Kobylarczyk, Jennifer Rae Michaels, Noora H. Shubbak, Ryan James Simmons and Brittany Kristen Wolski.

Tinley Park — Ala Abdelrahim, Renee Colton, Smitha P. Jose, Thomas F. Kincaid, Heather Ann Smurzynski and Mohamed Asad Zughayyer.

University of Houston

Nathan McMullin, of New Lenox, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at the University of Houston.

Trinity Christian College

Several area students graduated from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. They include:

Crestwood — Erin Lara.

Frankfort — Jordan Jurak and Thomas Tighe.

Midlothian — Shanda Gilligan and Kevin Johnson.

New Lenox — Richard Tilquist and Robert Ward.

Oak Forest — Brian Beenes, Rana Deis, Lisa Rackauskas, Lindsay Slager and Crystal Talbot.

Orland Park — Kelly Binkowski, Nicole Ferreria, Joohee Kim, Kevin Pedersen, Debbie Swider, Alyssa Voogt and Kenith Wojnarowski.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Several area students received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They include:

Frankfort — Melissa Lauren Hovanes.

New Lenox — Evan Andrew Porter.
