Breast Cancer Support Group: The American Cancer Society and Silver Cross Hospital host I Can Cope, a program for women facing breast cancer, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health library, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Wellness Program Vouchers: Orland Township residents in need of medical services may purchase a discounted wellness program voucher at Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, during office hours. Proof of residency is required. The wellness program offers services such as adult and children’s physicals, podiatry screenings, dental screenings, dental examinations, cleanings and X-rays, nutrition consultations, vision examinations and chiropractic examinations at up to a 50 percent discount. Neck Pain Program: A spine surgeon discusses the causes, diagnosis and treatment options to alleviate the narrowing of the spinal canal in one’s neck during this free program from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Low-Back Pain Screening: Appointments can be scheduled to Jan. 31 for a free screening and treatment recommendation by a Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago physical therapist for individuals experiencing aches, pain, spasm, stiffness or weakness of the lower back. Frankfort Wellness Fair: This 11th annual event is from 8:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 1 at the Founders Center, 140 Oak St., Frankfort. Franciscan St. James, Franciscan Physician Network and Specialty Physicians of Illinois, LLC staffs offer free screenings for blood glucose or cholesterol, blood oxygen, blood pressure, pulmonary (spirometry), osteoporosis and body mass index. Attendees also may receive free flu shots and 10-minute chair massages while supplies last. There also will be free refreshments, giveaways, raffles and exhibits focusing on prevention and awareness including heart and vascular care; diabetes; cancer care; durable medical equipment; home health care; occupational, physical and sports therapy; rehabilitation services; and hospice care. Screenings, Sweets And Savings: In recognition of National Heart Month, Silver Cross Hospital offers discounted baseline cardiac risk assessment and calcium artery scoring screenings for individuals and couples who call during February to schedule an appointment. Postpartum Support: Resources that will allow new mothers to become more knowledgeable about postpartum depression, its causes and available treatment options are available at this free support group. Grief Support For Men: Ingalls Health System offers the monthly free grief support group Straight Talk for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other. Men deal with grief differently from women.
