Caregivers Support: The Ingalls Center for Outpatient Rehabilitation hosts a monthly caregivers support group to help caregivers connect with others, share ideas, problem solve and receive support to get through the rough times. Crohn’s And Colitis Support: The Illinois Carol Fisher Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America offers a support group for people with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Paramedics’ Stroke Conference: Registration is required by Friday for Silver Cross Emergency Medical Services System’s free event for paramedics interested in increasing their knowledge of neurovascular trauma and stroke. Sharing The Journey: People who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4660 W. 94th St., Oak Lawn. No registration is required. Information: (708) 423-1040.

Bereavement Support Group: Parents who have experienced the death of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the third Monday of each month in the Advocate Christ Medical Center Conference Center, 4440 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. Postpartum Support: Resources that will allow new mothers to become more knowledgeable about postpartum depression, its causes and available treatment options are available at this free support group. In addition, mothers also will have the opportunity to talk, listen and share their experiences with other women experiencing similar feelings. Wellness Program Vouchers: Orland Township residents in need of medical services may purchase a discounted wellness program voucher at Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, during office hours. Proof of residency is required. The wellness program offers services such as adult and children’s physicals, podiatry screenings, dental screenings, dental examinations, cleanings and X-rays, nutrition consultations, vision examinations and chiropractic examinations at up to a 50 percent discount. Blood Pressure Screenings: Bloom Township and Complete Home Health Services offer free blood pressure screenings from 10 to 11 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Bloom Township Senior Department, 425 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. Information: (708) 754-9400.

Breast Prosthesis Display: Women who have undergone a mastectomy have the opportunity to evaluate prosthesis options through this display from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Advocate Christ Center for Breast Care, 4545 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. Grief Support For Men: Ingalls Health System offers the monthly free grief support group Straight Talk for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other. Men deal with grief differently from women. The free support group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month in Ingalls Memorial Hospital’s North Building, 1 Ingalls Drive, Harvey. Bereavement Support Group: VITAS Innovative Hospice Care offers bereavement support groups to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. All groups are free and offer day and evening sessions. A monthly ongoing bereavement support group, Coping With Loss, is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and 6:30 to 8 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the VITAS office, 8525 W. 183rd St., Suite M, Tinley Park. Total Lipid Profile Testing: Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, hosts this testing from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 20. A nine- to 12-hour fast is required. However, participants should drink water prior to the lipid test. Test price is $25 for residents or $30 for nonresidents. Sight Impaired Support: People who are coping with visual impairment can turn to Orland Area Sight Impaired Support, which provides support and independent living workshops. High Blood Pressure Discussion: A cardiologist and dietitian discuss high blood pressure and the use of diet to control the condition from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Hemoglobin A1C testing for blood sugar control is offered for $10 for residents and $15 for those out of township. Cholestech screening is $35 for residents and $45 for nonresidents. Spinal Cord Injury Group: A free support group for individuals with spinal cord injuries and their families and friends meets with other individuals for networking, problem solving and information from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month at Advocate Christ Medical Center, 4440 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. Screenings, Sweets And Savings: In recognition of National Heart Month, Silver Cross Hospital offers discounted baseline cardiac risk assessment and calcium artery scoring screenings for individuals and couples who call during February to schedule an appointment. Tests are available at Silver Cross Hospital locations at 1900 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox, and 12701 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen. Patients also receive a complimentary box of Dan’s Homemade Candies and discounts at Orland Square Mall in Orland Park and other local businesses. Mental Health First Aid Training: This eight-hour course takes place from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. March 1 at Sertoma Centre, 4331 W. Lincoln Highway, Matteson. The course teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Grief Support Group: The Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization conducts a grief support group for parents and family of anyone who has died as a result of a drug overdose. Lemont High School Cardiac Screenings: With the support of donors, the school is partnering with Young Hearts for Life and Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital to offer free screenings for all Lemont High School students whose parents or guardians authorize them to be tested during the school day on March 14.
