Blood Pressure Screenings: Bloom Township and Complete Home Health Services offer free blood pressure screenings from 10 to 11 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Bloom Township Senior Department, 425 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights. Information: (708) 754-9400.

Breast Prosthesis Display: Women who have undergone a mastectomy have the opportunity to evaluate prosthesis options through this display from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Advocate Christ Center for Breast Care, 4545 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. Grief Support For Men: Ingalls Health System offers the monthly free grief support group Straight Talk for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other. Men deal with grief differently than women. The free support group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month in Ingalls Memorial Hospital’s North Building, 1 Ingalls Drive, Harvey. Stroke Support: A free group for stroke survivors, their family and friends meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month in the Advocate Christ Medical Center Conference Center, 4440 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn. No registration is required. Information: (800) 323-8622, Code 1X08.

Bereavement Support Group: VITAS Innovative Hospice Care offers bereavement support groups to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. All groups are free and offer day and evening sessions. A monthly ongoing bereavement support group, Coping With Loss, is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and 6:30 to 8 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the VITAS office, 8525 W. 183rd St., Suite M, Tinley Park. Breast Cancer Support: A free group for women who have a history of breast cancer and their families meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Advocate Christ Center for Breast Care, 4545 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. Total Lipid Profile Testing: Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, hosts this testing from 8:30 to 11 a.m. March 20. A nine- to 12-hour fast is required. However, participants should drink water prior to the lipid test. Test price is $25 for residents or $30 for nonresidents. Free blood pressure and glucose testing for an additional $5 are also available on this day. An appointment is necessary. Participants must bring proof of residency. Appointments: (708) 403-4222.

Sight Impaired Support: People who are coping with visual impairment can turn to Orland Area Sight Impaired Support, which provides support and independent living workshops. OASIS meets at 12:30 p.m. the first and third Thursdays of every month at Orland Park Church, 7500 W. Sycamore Drive. Information: (708) 460-6573.

Chronic Back Pain Seminar: New treatment options and advanced technologies to bring relief to chronic back pain sufferers will be the focus at this free seminar at 6:30 p.m. March 20 at Franciscan St. James Health, 20201 Crawford Ave., Olympia Fields. Prepared Childbirth Class: Silver Cross Hospital offers a two-week prepared childbirth class from 5:30 to 9 p.m. March 24 and 31 at the hospital’s Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Participants will receive instruction from a registered nurse on breathing, relaxation and floor exercise techniques and review the labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum processes. Breast Cancer Support Group: The American Cancer Society and Silver Cross Hospital host I Can Cope, a program for women facing breast cancer, from 7 to 9 p.m. March 25 in the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health library, 1870 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Breast Cancer Program: Dr. Grace Suh will discuss how the occurrence of breast cancer has changed over time and new therapies being used to treat the disease. Free Health Fair: Smith Village, a continuing care retirement community at 2320 W. 113th Place, Chicago, will hold a free health fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 26. There will be healthy recipes, screenings, fitness tips and more. The general public is invited — especially retirees. The fair will include tasting samples prepared by executive chef David Somerfield, who promotes the health benefits of consuming a Mediterranean-style diet, according to executive director Marti Jatis.
