Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs will host what it calls a “very special” fundraiser on May 9 at Tall Grass Art Gallery, 367 Artists Walk in Park Forest.
Proceeds will be used to continue its various programs involving rehabbing foreclosed properties and providing weatherization support for low-income homeowners, according to a press release from the organization.
“Hard Hats & High Heels” will be an evening of wine, beer and food tastings, the release said. Guests will be entertained by Spellbinder the Magician, and there will be a chance auction, it said.
Habitat officials said in the release that the organization is helping address the decline in home values caused by a glut of foreclosed and abandoned homes, and that its work in Hazel Crest, Lansing, Park Forest and Chicago Heights is bringing a new sense of pride to many beleaguered neighborhoods.
The fundraiser is from 6 to 9 p.m., and tickets are $45 and can be bought online by visiting gohabitat.net, the release said.
