The South Suburban Humane Society volunteers will host the second annual fundraiser and adoption event, Street Fair for the Fur Kids, from 2 to 7 p.m. June 14 at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115th St., Merrionette Park, according to a press release about the event.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the building of additional dog runs and the purchase of a generator and other improvements to the 40-year-old animal shelter in Chicago Heights, the release said.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids. The price includes dinner, wine, beer, pop, silent auctions, basket raffles and musical performances throughout the day by The Partyhardigans.

There will be street fair entertainers such as psychic Edward Shanahan, balloon twister Nick Balloons, magician Circus Boy, a photo booth and SSHS volunteer and face painter Monica Gonzales.

Contestants can register with the shelter in advance to take part in the Fasano’s Pie-eating contest.

Daily updates can be found on the “SSHS Fundraising Street Fair for the Fur Kids & Adoption Event” Facebook page.

Tickets are for sale by visiting www.southsuburbanhumanesociety.org.

The shelter is looking for silent auction and raffle basket items. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter at 1103 West End Ave., Chicago Heights. The shelter also is offering a pickup service, which can be requested by emailing SSHSfundraiser@gmail.com.

Monetary donations can be sent by visiting www.southsuburbanhumanesociety.org. Indicate “street fair fundraiser” during checkout.

For those interested in adopting a “fur-ever friend,” SSHS will be showcasing adoptable pets as well. Visit www.southsuburbanhumanesociety.org to learn about the animals.
