Fill The Boot: Donors can get out and support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, as New Lenox Fire Protection District firefighters will hit the streets for their annual boot drive from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Firefighters will collect money at the intersections of Francis and Cedar roads, as well as Nelson and Laraway roads. All proceeds go directly to families to help finance medical treatments and physical therapy.
Starry Nights Concert: Staff Infection & the South Side Horns — a rock band whose members are faculty, staff and alumni from Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School — will be the featured act in the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s Starry Nights concert set for 7 p.m. July 3 at Irwin Park, 18120 Highland Ave., Homewood. Staff Infection’s specialty is brass-heavy rock and roll, but concertgoers can expect to hear Motown hits and songs from horn-heavy bands and artists such as Chicago and Stevie Wonder. The gates open at 6 p.m. for this free show. Games will be available for kids, and food and drinks from local vendors will be for sale.
