Lemonade Stand for Cancer Fight: Brooklyn Brown will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 15 and 16 at the intersection of Joe Orr Road and Winston Lane, Chicago Heights, to help fight childhood cancer. Brooklyn read and was amazed by the story of Alex Scott, a cancer patient who in 2000, at age 4, announced she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure. That led to the formation of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which has raised more than $75 million for pediatric cancer research. Alex died in 2004. Donations also can be made by visiting www.alexslemonade.org/mypage/1117722.
