Lemonade stand in Chicago Heights set to help in cancer fight

Updated: September 11, 2014 6:29AM

Brooklyn Brown will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 15 and 16 at the intersection of Joe Orr Road and Winston Lane, Chicago Heights, to help fight childhood cancer.

Brooklyn read and was amazed by the story of Alex Scott, a cancer patient who in 2000, at age 4, announced she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure. Scott’s desire to help led to the formation of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which has raised more than $80 million for pediatric cancer research. Alex died in 2004.

For those who cannot make it to Brooklyn’s lemonade stand, donations also can be made by visiting www.alexslemonade.org/mypage/1117722.
