Ingalls Health System will host a number of health programs in September, according to a release from the health care provider.
A partial list of them follows, with the information as provided in the release:
Breast Cancer Support Group from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Ingalls Family Care Center, 6701 W. 159th St., Tinley Park. The program is free. For more information, call (708) 738-0956.
Cancer Survivor Day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Cancer Support Center, 2028 Elm Road, Homewood. This special Cancer Survivor Day is for cancer survivors and their caregivers, and will feature chair massages, balance and strength screenings, an interactive demonstration about food that combats fatigue, chair yoga with deep breathing/meditation, and a presentation on reducing the likelihood of recurrence through strength and energy-building activities. Center Steppers at River Oaks Mall from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 16 at River Oaks Mall, 96 River Oaks Center Drive, Calumet City. The program is free and meets near the food court. Participants can join the Ingalls Center Steppers Mall Walkers Club for an educational presentation, “Allergies and Asthma,” at 9 a.m. that day. A free grief support group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. Mondays at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, 1 Ingalls Drive, Harvey. The group provides a safe place for participants who have experienced the loss of a loved one to grieve with others who have had similar experiences, share feelings and start the healing process. Registration is required by calling Ingalls Hospice Bereavement Services at (708) 331-1360. The group meets in the North Building, on the second floor.
