The village of Palos Park will host a chili cookoff Feb. 8 at the Palos Park Recreation Center, 8901 W. 123rd St., according to a press release from the village.
The Chili Appreciation Society International and International Chili Society chili cooks will compete for prizes and points to qualify for national competitions, the release said.
The cooks will prepare batches of homemade chilis and salsas for judging. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., with public tasting to begin at 1:15 p.m., the release said.
Attendees may taste dozens of chilis for $5, and tasters can participate in voting for their favorite cook, the release said.
Fees benefit Palos Park Pedalers and their efforts to have safe bike routes throughout Palos Park, according to the release.
Organizers still are accepting competitors and seeking judges.
