Parish Festival: St. John the Evangelist Parish, 9400 Wicker Ave., St. John, Ind., is hosting its annual parish festival through July 28. The theme of this year’s event is “Food, Family, Fun,” featuring free nightly entertainment, carnival rides, children’s games, indoor bingo, Texas hold’em tournaments, $10,000 raffle, beer tent and an assortment of food. July 26 is wristband night. July 28 is race day with a 5K and a family fun run with registration at www.stjohnparish.org.
Motorcycle Run: The Parkview Christian Church Motorcycle Club of Orland Park will hold its third annual CruZin for KidZ with Cancer Motorcycle Run July 27. Proceeds benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation of Orland Park. Registration for the ride begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 183rd Street and Wolf Road. First bike out is at 11 a.m. Cost is $20 per biker or $30 per couple. The run will end with lunch at the Treasure Chest Foundation, 15430 70th Court, The foundation provides comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy, gift or gift certificate in 44 hospitals nationwide. World Youth Day: The archdiocese of Chicago will hold the Midwest Celebration of World Youth Day from 1 to 11 p.m. July 27 at Marian Catholic High School, 700 Ashland Ave., Chicago Heights. Cardinal Francis George will be the main celebrant at the closing liturgy at 9:15 p.m. Keynote speakers will be Noelle Garcia-McHugh, a World Library Publications recording artist whose topic is “I Praise You for I am Wonderfully Made,” and Pat Rinker, youth ministry director in the diocese of Lansing, Mich., who will discuss “Be Transformed.” Registration: www.youthministry-chicago.org.
Connect Conference: The Rev. Cash Luna will be the main speaker at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 28 as Family Harvest Church, 18500 92nd Ave., Tinley Park, celebrates its annual “Re-Connect Summer Conference.” The 16th annual conference started July 21 and concludes July 28. Theology On Tap: St. Bernadette Parish, 93rd and Francisco streets, Evergreen Park, is hosting South Side Theology on Tap for the fourth consecutive summer. The next session is 6:30 p.m. July 28 with Andrea Stapleton discussing “Catholic Social Teaching: Catholic Consciousness and the Leadership of Pope Francis.” The program, geared to people in their 20s and 30s, includes a free dinner with beer or wine.
