Workers recently were busy putting the finishing touches on what will be Chicago Ridge’s newest restaurant, the Chick-fil-A on the east side of Chicago Ridge Mall.

Union sheet metal workers Mike Watson, of McHenry; and Bob Brown, of Chicago’s Northwest Side, spent a recent day installing metal flashing at the new building, 9600 S. Ridgeland Ave.

Watson, of Local 265, and Brown, of Local 73, were working for Excellence & Quality Sheet Metal, a company based in McHenry.

Inside, workers were busy getting the kitchen and dining area ready.

Chick-fil-A has been hiring for the new restaurant. The grand opening is set for Sept. 26, according to the sign and the company’s website. Peter Glanvill is listed as operator of the new franchise.

The restaurant will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. It will be closed on Sundays.

A promotional contest will have 100 winners, with each receiving one Chick-fil-A meal every week for one year. That’s 52 meals of a chicken sandwich, medium waffle potato fries, and a medium drink.

To become eligible for the contest, a customer must be an early riser. Hopefuls must be at the restaurant between 5:30 and 6 a.m. Sept. 25, the day before the grand opening, to be eligible. For more information, visit www.Chick-fil-A.com.
