Football: Providence turns back Fenwick 21-13
Tight end Austin Garwood caught the go-ahead touchdown with 6:35 remaining in the game as Providence handed Fenwick its first loss of the season Saturday at Concordia University in River Forest.
Robert Spillane put Fenwick (6-1) ahead 13-7 on an 8-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, but a high snap forced holder Jimmy Donahue to throw an incomplete pass on the 2-point conversion attempt. The Celtics (4-3) scored five plays later on QB Justin Hunniford’s 43-yard scoring pass to Garwood.
Dominic Lagone rushed for 138 yards on 23 carries, and Providence outrushed Fenwick 103-34 in the first half. Lagone (5 catches, 56 yards) caught a 4-yard TD pass with 37.2 seconds left in the first quarter for the game’s first score.

Providence led 7-0 at halftime, but the teams combined for 27 points in the fourth quarter. Defensive lineman Jeff Cesario added an insurance touchdown for the Celtics with 2:27 remaining when he intercepted Gino Cavalieri’s pass for a 16-yard touchdown return.
