Lemont 4, Reavis 3 (SO): Keiran Ruane and Teddy Trifunovski contributed goals in regulation for the host Lemont (12-8-2, 9-2), which captured the South Suburban crossover by holding a 5-3 edge in the penalty-kick shootout. Jose Estrada, Matt Mulica and Swavek Chrobek scored for Reavis (13-7-2, 8-3).
Lockport 3, Joliet West 0: Goals by Dan Michalik, Sean McCaffrey and Chris Budz propelled visiting Lockport (15-3-3, 7-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
Lincoln-Way Central 5, Providence 0: Jacob Lysik contributed a goal and two assists for visiting Lincoln-Way Central (7-9-4). Isaac Hopper recorded the shutout.
Marist 3, St. Laurence 3: Grant Kenny’s goal in the final minute enabled host Marist (13-5-2) to gain a tie. Carter Olson and Ed Cunningham also scored for the RedHawks. Alex Rodriguez, Michael McLaughlin and Zach Johnson provided goals for St. Laurence (5-10-3).
Class 1A Byron Sectional: Michael Barber, of Beecher, recorded a 78 in heading the list of individual advancers to the state tournament. Morgan Park Academy’s Jack Costello (82) also won an at-large spot. Medalist Andrew Blechman (74) sparked North Shore Country Day (311) to first place in front of runner-up Byron (315) and third-place occupant Stockton (320). Beecher (350) took sixth.
Class 2A Nazareth Sectional: St. Laurence’s Jordan Velez (77) garnered an at-large spot in the state tournament by finishing second to Glenbard South’s Russell Matos (74). Other local golfers earning automatic bids were Lincoln-Way West’s Sean Knights (78), Oak Forest’s Dave Karwoski (78), the Illiana Christian duo of Matthew Zandstra (78) and Steven Massey (80), and Chicago Christian’s Jay Timmer (83). Glenbard South (317) won the team title, with St. Francis (326) and Montini (343) also moving on to the state meet. Fifth-place Oak Forest (350) was the top local squad.
Class 3A Marist Sectional: Jack, Mulligan, of Homewood-Flossmoor posted a 77 in advancing to the state tournament. His performance led the Vikings (331) to a sixth-place finish, the best of any area squad in the 12-team event at Old Oak. Glenbrook North (293) was first overall, followed by fellow state qualifiers New Trier (301) and Evanston (306). Glenbrook North’s Nick Hardy (66) was the medalist.
Class A Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Sectional: Beecher’s Jessie Ackman gained a spot in the state tournament after firing an 87 at Railside in Gibson City. Mount Zion’s Ashley Miller (76) was the medalist, while Monticello (389), Mahomet-Seymour (389) and Charleston (392) garnered openings in the state meet.
