Franciscan St. James Health will hold its first Diabetes Health & Equipment Expo from 6 to 8 p.m. June 26 at the hospital’s Center for Diabetes, 20201 Crawford Ave., Olympia Fields, according to a press release from the health care organization.

“Diabetes is impacting more south and southwest suburban residents,” Franciscan St. James chief operating officer Cindy Brassea said in the release. “The purpose of the Diabetes Health & Equipment Expo is to promote education and health care for those with diabetes and their families.”

The expo will include demonstrations, educational materials, product samples and health screenings, the release said. Attendees also will receive free gifts, and free refreshments will be available, the release said.

Suppliers of leading diabetes products and services, including Accu-Chek, Animas, Medtronic, Tandem and Valeritas, will exhibit at the expo, the release said.

The Franciscan St. James Center for Diabetes is staffed by specialists in endocrinology, nutrition services, health psychology and diabetes education. The team works with primary care providers to ensure that all diabetes patients benefit from comprehensive and well-coordinated care, according to the release.

Since 1991, the Franciscan St. James Center for Diabetes has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association for its high-quality educational services, according to the release.

The Diabetes Health & Equipment Expo is free to the community and professionals. Space is limited.
