To Homer Glen per your quote, “Our present governor says he will not tax our pension income and will not balance the state’s budget on the backs of senior citizens. I for one am going to take his word for it.” Yes, his word is gold: The state income tax increase is only temporary! I for one will not take his word. Time for a change!

I read where the Food and Drug Administration wants to regulate how much salt restaurants can put in their food. While I understand the reasoning behind this (high blood pressure, etc.), what about all the other chemicals and growth hormones that are used in our food items that we consume everyday? They allow chemicals and whatnot, that are banned in other countries, to be used in our foods. I think they need to start with this instead of with how much salt is used in restaurant food.

No time for politicians to balance the state budget or take care of pension reform. Only time to waste on the Obama library. Knock it off. What is wrong with these politicians? We have no money for this library, nor do we need it. So quit fighting about it and get your priorities straight. Furthermore, this is not Obama’s home state! End of story!

Regarding the recent comment about Rauner’s lack of plan: Gov. Quinn has repeatedly lied about our tax dollars being temporary and now becoming permanent. Did anyone happen to read the state of Illinois/ office of comptroller fiscal report this year? It says the state collected an extra $1.3 billion in unexpected tax revenue, and yet the state debt still ballooned by an extra $1.5 billion to $7.6 billion by the end of the 2013 calendar year. Illinois has a spending problem, and I, for one, am all about getting some fresh people and ideas into our government and ridding us of the people who have been bringing us down for years.

Part of the ACA is the Physician Payments Sunshine Act. It supposedly forces all the drug and medical supply companies to disclose exactly the amount of money they pay to doctors to promote their products. Again, supposedly it’ll help patients make better decisions regarding what their doctor’s prescribing. We all know that our government never lies and service people always tell the IRS the full amount of what they make in tips. Sure! I’ve also got a beautiful, oceanfront property in Nevada. Obamacare ... “working for all of us.”

In reading a recent article in the Chicago Sun-Times regarding interest rate swaps and their actual and potential negative effect upon city of Chicago finances, it is even more obvious that the ineptitude perpetrated by the Daley administration is even beyond most people’s comprehension. If there is anyone who considers our recent mayor in high esteem, they must either be living in a windowless basement or they must be one of the thousands of “bought off” lemmings who sold their souls for a cushy patronage job.
