Alsip bar helps kids fighting cancer

The Dakota Inn Bar and Grill in Alsip recently sponsored a luau to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, a nonprofit organization that gives toys, gifts and gift certificates to kids fighting cancer.
The event raised more than $2,700 for the foundation and featured free Hawaiian food, entertainment by Liquid Hot Magma, drink specials and raffles.
“I am just so proud of everyone that showed up for this event,” owner Jim Bradford said.
“Children are our future, and if they are sick and in the hospital, it’s the least we can do for children and teens fighting cancer,” co-owner Angele Joachim said.
